The Best Way to Kick Blogging Butt in 2011

So, you’ve made a promise to yourself to turn your blog into a juggernaut.  I don’t know what your goal is but I know it starts with hustling your rump off this year.  But here’s the dealio soldier - you need to pour it on every week.  No matter what.

You need to light up your niche and shock the heck out of your readers (and competitors).  2 years ago, Gary Vaynerchuk told me that I needed to work my face off if I wanted to succeed.  I ignored him and failed.  But last year, I dug up the recording of our phone conversation and realized he was right.  Back in April I put my fat blogging butt on the treadmill and got to work.

Know what?  @GaryVee was right.

So flash forward to 2011.  I’m reviewing the transcripts for #tweetdiner and #blogchat and notice something.

Everyone knows what to do.  They just can’t get started. They overthink it.  They procrastinate.  They wait for some perfect scenario.  The problem isn’t a lack of knowledge.  Hell we are drowning in it.

The problem is “MOTIVATION”

Or…you just need to get your fat rump on the blogging treadmill and get to stepping.

Here’s the kicker.

You can’t motivate yourself.  You need someone to give you a swift kick in the rump and tell you what to do every week.  This way you don’t have any excuses. You need a drill sergeant and I want the job.

Here’s What I’m Going To Do For You

Every week I will send you a blogging assignment.  Open your email, read the message, and go get it done.  Reply to the email message with any questions.  The following week, I’ll answer any questions that I get.  Your blogging assignments will be easy, quick, and effective.  You’ll be surprised how easy it is to get some momentum going!

I’m charging you $10 a month to keep you honest.  Think of me as your ultra-cheap blogging trainer. By the way, if you can’t afford $10 then this is NOT for you.  If you are looking for a “blog in a box”then this is definitely not for you.  This service is for people who need to an extra push to get over the hump.

By the way, I plan on stuffing all of my best tricks and hip-shaking info into these weekly emails.  I’m not going to pull any punches.

Update: I’ve closed this program and enrolled everyone (for free) into my weekly blogzine.  Easier, cheaper, and just as fun :)

I am in. Hope to see your teachings soon.

  2. The $10 for the service I think isn’t for me but reading your blog now pushes me to be better. :D Do you think everyone needs a drill sergeant?

Damn Stanford, you are sooo good at this! I would kill to take you up on your offer. One day …

We all need some tough love sometimes, Stanford. You know how to deliver the, “yea I feel that way sometimes too but here’s what we’re gonna do about it..” and that’s powerful.

Been keeping an eye on you from the sidelines since April last year (was your theme Blogussion then?). People need to think less, ship more, and seriously just keep up with you. You set a good example; always hustling.

    Keep rocking in 2011!

Stanford – This is a timely post and it speaks the truth so succinctly. I’ve been following your blog since June 2010ish and dig the new site enhancements, nice work!

  6. OK, I am in :)
I just ran into your blog on a list of best social media blogs. Most of the blogs listed are not something that I like, and no matter how good it might be for me to read them, I just can’t.
But the sergeant got me and I had to check out the post.
You already know it is a great post so I don’t need to tell you.
I just wanted to say that your blog looks great and that you just got a new follower :)

  7. Hi Stanford,

‘Everyone knows what to do. They just can’t get started. They overthink it. They procrastinate. They wait for some perfect scenario. The problem isn’t a lack of knowledge. Hell we are drowning in it.’

This is exactly the problem bang-on. Great post! I’m looking forward to your weekly blogging assignments. I’m signing up.

I came over your blog just a few days back (Srini’s recommendation). I’m glad I checked out your blog. Sometimes you just stumble upon something you need.

    Thanks a ton!
