I’m not talking about the reflexive “thanks” when someone holds the door or says “my you are a handsome devil!” I mean the heartfelt show of appreciation that really communicates how much I really care. I blame it on being an introvert. That usually works except for anniversary and birthday slip-up.
You probably are in the same boat. If so, the Holidays are a time to redeem yourself. Here’s a few ideas that will go along way with your blog readers.
1. Thank You Post
This one is easy. Make a list of the people who went above and beyond to help you this year. List them and add a sentence or two about why they rocked your world. If they have a website, give them a little link-love by hyperlinking to their site.
2. Free “Digital” Gifts
All year I’ve been harassing you to create products to sell to your readers. Well, I’m putting away my red-blooded capitalist hat (for the moment) and encouraging you to give something away. Free gifts only work when they hurt just a bit to give away. Find that special gift like an ebook or Special Report and send it to your regular readers or retweeters.
3. Send a Gift
Blog Readers that have turned into customers deserve special treatment. Visit SendABall.com and order a physical ball for your customers. Tell them that you look forward to “Having a Ball” with them in 2013. Chessy? You bet. Awesome? Yep that too!
4. Snail Mail
I believe that good ole Snail Mail is making a comeback. Our back door is filled with holiday cards from friends, acquaintances, and work mates. Impress the heck out of a few blog readers by asking for their address and follow-up with a handwritten card. This one will take a little time but it probably will have the most impact.
5. Thank You Email
You don’t need a formula for this. Just say….
“I’m a nerd. I don’t get out much. It pains me to do the simple things that my more extroverted pals do. So understand that this is a hell of a lot more special than it looks.
I really like you and the things you do. Thanks for being there for me.
By the way – Thanks!
