Something is missing.
Have you listened to talk at a conference and realized you didn’t learn one usable tactic?
Have you been in a marketing “brainstorming” meeting and noticed that the post-it note spotted whiteboard has all the same ideas just using different words?
Or worse, have you hired a marketing guru and discovered that they knew all the reasons why you should take action but didn’t know what to do or how to help you do it?
Like I said something is missing. But what?
I have a theory.
The What and How
I’m writing this post on my flight out to San Diego to speak at Social Media Marketing World. Next to this post, I have a window open showing my presentation. The presentation isn’t a keynote speech. It’s a simple straight-forward discussion on how to make money with a blog.
I’m not the keynote speaker, I’m a breakout session instructor. My job isn’t to tell you why you should use content marketing, that’s what the keynote speakers do. No, my job is to tell you what you should do and how to get it done.
I feel we need more “what and how” marketing information especially in the content and social media marketing space. We are getting there but progress, in my opinion, is too slow.
That’s Why Laura and I Are Launching The Marketing Huddle Podcast
How The Marketing Huddle Will Scratch Your “Practical Marketing” Itch
Earlier this year, Laura and I noticed something about the PS Podcast. When we chatted before recording the podcast, we dug into nitty-gritty issues affecting our business. We traded specific immediately actionable advice. We held each other accountable and didn’t hesitate to share closely guarded strategies and tactics.
When we started recording, we “dumbed” everything down. We shared some good information but we knew that we could do more.
So I made the decision to put the PS Podcast on hiatus and start The Marketing Huddle an entirely new type of marketing podcast.
Our goal is to be the marketing masterclass you’ve been waiting for – that “practical itch” you’ve been trying to scratch.
We will tackle the tough marketing stuff. Our episodes will answer tough questions that overwhelm marketing professionals and business owners such as:
- You know you need excellent content but how do you write it?
- How do you find the budget for your content marketing plan?
- What type of people should you hire for your team?
- How do you create a dashboard to track your most important marketing metrics?
- What are the right metrics?
Each show will be long on substance and “filler free.”
We know that The Marketing Huddle has some stiff competition but we know that we can earn a spot in your day.
It’s a simple trade- you invest 30-45 minutes of your time in return for plain spoken insights you can use right away.
Is The Marketing Huddle Right For You?
This isn’t a marketing 101 podcast. We’re not a marketing celebrity variety show either. This is a show for intense, results-oriented, no excuses professionals. Both Laura and I own marketing consulting businesses and the podcast will share many of the strategies we use to get results for our clients.
That means, business owners and marketing decision makers will get the most immediate value from The Marketing Huddle. We imagine you listening to the Podcast on Wednesday, implementing what you learned on Thursday. Like The Oregon Ducks, we will be running a hurry-up marketing offense.
How Podcasting Works and Why We Need Your Help
We believe that the Marketing Huddle will help businesses level up and achieve more. But we need your help to make sure that The Marketing Huddle isn’t just another podcast that languishes in the back alleys of iTunes.
We’ve created a sizzling new site at TheMarketingHuddle.com for the show. It’s hot check it out.
We have our Introduction and Episode 1 ready for you right now. Click here to listen on iTunes.
This is super important. Leave a review. You can leave a sentence or a paragraph it’s up to you. It will take a minute and earn you some crazy points with Laura and I.
What’s Happening to the PS Podcast?
I will be focusing my time on The Marketing Huddle. I have some other ideas for the PS Podcast that I’ll share with you when we’re ready. I’m stoked about the future of the PS Podcast so stay tuned!
