Do you keep a to-do list?
Take a look at it. Count how many projects that you’ve started but haven’t finished.
Do you have projects stuck in the “not quite finished” phase?
These projects could be:
1. Writing your first blog post
2. Writing your next blog post
3. Brainstorming your editorial calendar
4. Creating new content for your most loyal readers
You get the picture. The stuff on this list is essential for building your blog and executing your content marketing strategy.. Not finishing it is delaying your success.
Here’s my question.
Why haven’t you finished these projects?
I think it is…
Fear. Not terror just anxiety of not meeting your expectations.
Let me give you some advice.
Visualize the impact of not finishing, the results of failing to publish content that excites and informs your readers.
Your readers need your information. They want whatever you have. Prioritize, work, finish, and publish.
View each completed to-do item as version 1.0.
Many of us haven’t totally wrapped our heads around how content works. Unlike traditional marketing and publishing, your work is never completed. It’s a work in progress and that’s a good thing. This means that you have the freedom to get reader feedback, update your work and release it again! Remember, you can always revise your work but you can’t enjoy the benefits unless you ship.
I Challenge You To…
Ship something today. Finish it, swallow your fear, and publish.
Once it’s published, open your calendar and set a deadline for revising and updating the revised version of your content. Now cross the item off your list and move on tho the next unfinished item. Each finished 1.0 task builds momentum and makes it easier to finish the next one.
