You should. I’ve included a simple 6-step system for turning your blog into a nice source of income. I call the system “The Blog Sales Cycle” and I’ve used it to turn Pushing Social from a labor of love to my main source of income. That’s saying some considering I have three boys to feed!

Step #1: Uncover Customer/ Reader Needs
We frequently talk about reader and customer research because it’s the most powerful step you can take to boost your success. In the brief, I discuss what type of research you should conduct and give you a few tips on how to get started.
Step #2: Create Pre-Sell Posts
I’ve stepped on a few toes with this step. You see, some folks believe that blog posts shouldn’t be used for marketing. Somehow, actually marketing with a blog is considered inauthentic. I bet you know my opinion. Don’t listen to the Unicorn Union. I’ll describe what Pre-Sell Posts are and how to use them to convert readers into subscribers, which leads to the next step…
Step #3: Develop Expert Products (or Lead Magnets)
Expert Products are ethical bribes. Use them to barter with your readers, you give them the juicy, information-packed, service, book, or product, in exchange for their email address. You don’t have to complicate this step. I’ll show you how to get a jump on it and product a create a good Expert Product in no time.
Step #4: Get the Opt-In
You might have noticed that I put a lot of attention on gathering reader information with short, high-impact forms. Notice I have a sizzling form at the end of this post. Why? I (and you) need to make it easy for your readers to act and give you permission to contact them via email. Step #5: Build BFF Email Relationships
BFF – Best Friend Forever, I treat my email subscribers like royalty. In fact, they learned about the How to Sell With Your Blog Guide over a week ago giving them a head start on using it to market their blog and business.
You should create “BFF” status for your subscribers too. In the guide I talk about the 5:1 sequence that builds relationships and encourages your readers to become customers.
Step #6: Accelerate Success
This last step is the swan sang. Basically, I talk about how to collaborate with your readers to build more powerful pre-sell posts and expert products. Once you finish this step, the entire process starts to build on its own energy. It works like a flywheel, put in the first hard push and watch the entire system get more effective and profitable.

I admit that this isn’t the normal, write great content, nail your headlines, and guest post advice. I’m not knocking these tactics, but they don’t earn you a dime. In your gut, you knew the simple stuff didn’t work. What I talk about in my brief is a system that creates success by executing several high-performance tactics. It’s not easy but it works.
